about

The Path To Delphi marks the next step in David Gibson's musical journey featuring a new crop of original compositions tinged with the essence of classic 60's era Blue Note recordings and informed by his modern sensibilities. His horn sings over the lyrical melodies under the steady support of his able-bodied rhythm section. This recording rekindles Gibson's lengthy musical relationship with saxophonist Wayne Escoffery and also features the talents of acclaimed trumpeter Randy Brecker.

"This music represents my very personal search for truth. I have been humbled by the contributions of all involved in this project and feel this music is evidence of the cumulative effort of many people. I hope you find some joy here." - David Gibson

This recording includes nine original compositions by David Gibson. They are great tunes with interesting melodic lines, solid chord changes, and tasteful arrangements that are to the point and balanced. All of the tunes are well stated, the solos are the perfect length, and the musical styles are varied and never overstated.

"David Gibson is one of the very talented, truly dedicated musicians on the New York scene today." - Slide Hampton

"Out of all the young players I hear in the music today, David is one of very few who speaks the language of jazz." - Curtis Fuller
